について (ni tsuite)
~について — about ~ / concerning ~
Pattern
-
名詞+について+動詞noun + について + verb (文化について研究する) -
名詞+についての+名詞noun + についての + noun (日本についての本)
How to use it
It shows the content or topic that you speak, research or think about. The verb is usually about words or thought: 話す, 聞く, 考える, 調べる, 書く, 教える. To modify a noun, use についての (日本についての本).
Compared with similar forms
に関して is slightly more formal, while について is the everyday choice. It marks the topic more clearly than 〜のことを話す. It only shows the topic and, unlike に対して, does not mean directing something at a person.
