② Nepali grammar rules
1. Learn causative pairs
Learn खानु→खुवाउनु / सिक्नु→सिकाउनु / पढ्नु→पढाउनु.
These pairs include eat/feed and learn/teach.
Causatives involve stem-specific changes, not one universally attachable ending.
2. Causer and person acting
In आमाले बच्चालाई खाना खुवाउनुभयो (the mother fed the child), आमाले is the causer, बच्चालाई the eater and खाना the food.
Participant roles determine the marker selection.
3. The -न लगाउनु (to make/have someone do, with a preceding verb base) construction
लेख्न लगाउनु (to make/have someone write)/काम गर्न लगाउनु (to make/have someone work) cause/arrange writing or working.
Keep the first verb in -न and conjugate लगाउनु, as in respectful past लगाउनुभयो.
4. खुवाउनु versus खान दिनु (to let someone eat)
खुवाउनु expresses feeding/causing eating. खान दिनु (to let someone eat) can mean letting or allowing someone to eat.
The translation feed/let eat depends on whether the action is caused or permitted.
5. Causative polarity and time
Conjugate the causative itself: सिकाउनुहुन्छ→सिकाउनुभयो→सिकाउनुभएन.
Compare ability सिक्न सक्नुहुन्छ (can learn, respectful) learn with सिकाउन सक्नुहुन्छ (can teach, respectful) teach; the causative stem remains essential.
