1. न + request form

Prefix न to a request form: नगर्नुहोस्, नजानुहोस्, नखानुहोस्.
Do not form a negative request by appending छैन to the affirmative imperative.

2. Statement versus negative request

उहाँ जानुहुन्न (he/she does not go, respectful) reports that the person does not go; नजानुहोस् requests not going.
Contrast -नुहुन्न with न-…-नुहोस् in both form and function.

3. Negative न versus softening न

नबस्नुहोस् means please do not sit.
Sentence-final न in बस्नुहोस् न (please do sit down) softens or urges a request and is not negation.
Position changes the function of न.

4. Prohibition with -नु हुँदैन (must not do, with a preceding verb base)

यहाँ धूम्रपान गर्नु हुँदैन (smoking is not allowed here) states a prohibition. नगर्नुहोस् directly requests non-action; गर्नु हुँदैन (must not do it) describes an action as disallowed. हुन्न is also used as a shorter form.

5. Prohibition versus no obligation

जानु हुँदैन (must not go) prohibits going; जानु पर्दैन (do not need to go) removes the need to go.
Negating permission हुन्छ and necessity पर्छ gives different meanings.

Keep a negative request separate from a prohibition with हुँदैन.
